JD(S) trying to create confusion: MP

Last Updated 04 June 2012, 18:51 IST

MP Adagur H Vishwanath said JD(S) is trying to create confusion by supporting their party activist C Lakshman, whose name is similar to that of the Congress candidate, in the elections to the south teachers constituency.

Addressing a media conference here on Monday, Vishwanath slammed the JD(S) for using unethical means to win the elections. Voters need to teach JD(S) a lesson, he added.

No rifts

Speaking about his party, Vishwanath denied rifts within the party.
He said Siddaramaiah is the leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly. A democratic party such as Congress is like a rock. It has 130 years of history, he reminded.

Optimistic

MLC aspirant M Lakshmana was optimistic of wining the elections.

He said Congress had announced its candidates six months before the elections were announced. Due to this move, we were able to reach 21,000 candidates in more than 3,800 schools, he added.

M Lakshmana said he has listed 10 demands of teachers and would work to ensure that differences in pay scale would be sorted.

Congress leaders C Dasegowda, mayor M C Rajeshwari, former MLA M K Somashekar and councillor P Devaraj were present.
