She could not hide her feelings while inaugurating the Rs 355-crore campus. "What a marvellous setting for a university, created by a private company. That is why I am too glad to be with you this afternoon. This visit has given me the opportunity to bunk my school (politics) for a few hours. After touring this campus, I admire the beautiful facilities created on the campus, trees and flowers. I honestly want to say, wish I could bunk a few days more", added Sonia amidst thunderous applause from the gathering. Infosys mentor N R Narayana Murthy, CEO Kris Gopalkrishnan and also Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty could not hide their feelings as there was broad smile on their faces.

Though announcements were made frequently about the arrival of Sonia, she came to the venue only at 12.35 pm. A large gathering had waited patiently for her arrival along with others. As it was a hot and sultry afternoon in Mysore, those present there had to pull out umbrellas supplied by Infosys. As there was a restriction on the number of dignitaries on the dais, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, Kris Gopalakrishnan and Narayan Murthy shared the space with her. Even, Infosys Foundation Chairman Sudha Murty sat in front of the dais. She had covered her head with saree to beat the heat.

Others who were present on the occasion were Infosys Director-HR T V Mohandas Pai, KPCC chief R V Deshpande, Working President D K Shivakumar, KPCC Youth Wing chief Krishna Byregowda, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council V S Ugrappa and a host of MPs.  Sonia Gandhi, who had travelled in economy class on Monday to practice the government resolve on austerity measure, heli-hopped to Mysore from Bangalore.

Cop suspended

Meanwhile, a constable attached to K R Police station here was suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty at Infosys campus on the eve of Sonia's arrival. He was not to be seen at the position he was told to be on guard, it is learnt.
