8 former aides held for rowdy's murder

The Jnanabharathi police have cracked the murder case of notorious rowdy sheeter Korangu alias Anand.

Police said eight former associates of Korangu, who were arrested recently, had hacked the latter to death, following an altercation. Korangu, a dreaded rowdy sheeter in Rajajinagar and
Basaveshwarnagar, was attacked with lethal weapons on May 26 just three days after he was released on bail. The gang was at large since then.

Police arrested Vijaykumar, 26, Purushottam, 26, Karthik, 24, Sukumar, 26, P Raghuvaran, 24, Dileep, 26, Murali, 21, and Vivek, 21 all residents of Rajajinagar and Basaveshwaranagar areas. Some are habitual offenders, while others were rowdy sheeters in the areas.

Hiding in Tamil Nadu

Acting on a tip-off, a special team visited Tamil Nadu, where the gang was hiding.

But by the time the team tracked them down in Tamil Nadu, they were already in Bangalore. The Jnanabharathi police later arrested the gang from Mariyappanapalya.

Police said Korangu, after his release on bail, was harassing his associates and in some cases had even assaulted them for money. Enraged, the gang members murdered him.
