World-renowned hip-hop dancer and choreographer Niels ‘Storm’ Robitzky will conduct a workshop from June 25 to 29, 4 pm to 7 pm, at the ‘Centrestage’ during the ‘Indo-German Urban Mela’ at Palace Grounds.

As part of the breakdance workshop, Storm along with Patrick Grigo aka ‘B-Boy Parrish’ will conduct lecture-demonstration, seminar and the battle for B-Boyers. The workshop will conclude with a stormy break-dance battle which will be held on June 30, 5 pm.

Having developed his own style of dance, as well as a unique method for teaching, he will draw upon a variety of styles and practices of break-dance. There will be a particular focus on popping, locking and b-boying.

Given Storm’s commitment to scientific foundations and aesthetic nuances in break-dancing, participants will be exposed to not only the anatomical aspects of dance, but also to aesthetic, rhythmic and musical elements. The workshop will also give importance to breaking, in a way that is true, to the breakdance form, but one that does not cross the safety limits of the body.

Niels ‘Storm’ Robitzk stormed on to the scene in Bangalore with ‘Solo for Two’, which was the opening act of the ‘Year of Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities’ in September 2011.

There is no entry fee for the event. Those interested may register at: germanyandindia@bangalore.goethe.org. For details log on to www.goethe.de/bangalore; www.urbanmela.germany-and-india.com.
