Two persons held for selling counterfeit computer parts

Two people were arrested for manufacturing and selling counterfeit computer products of a reputed company at Daryaganj in central Delhi, police said. 

Majid Ali, 37, and Mohammad Ayub, 20 , who hails from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested in Daryaganj for manufacturing and selling of counterfeit products of Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific Pvt Ltd on Saturday, said additional commissioner of police (central) Devesh Chandra Srivastva.

“They were carrying out their operation on a large scale and were supplying duplicate products across India through its channels especially in UP and Gujarat,” added Srivastava.

 Police have seized illegal products worth Rs 20 lakh from the premises of the accused persons.

Police received a tip-off that some people in Daryaganj are involved in manufacturing and selling of counterfeit products of a reputed computer hardware company.

“A raid was conducted at shop number 3318/2 and a flat in Daryaganj,” said Srivastva.

During the raid, two accused were nabbed.

They told police that they had set up a small manufacturing unit at their premises. They used to collect used-cartridge and toners from various offices then refill them and pack them using false labels or stickers. And supplied them in the market, police said.

They were carrying out this illegal business for last six months, police added.

“More people are involved in running this illegal business. Investigation is in progress and more arrests and recoveries are likely to be made,” added Srivastva.
