<p>It has already recruited 780-800 fresh from the campus in the current year. “We have hired all the 780-800 engineers whom we offered jobs last year, but looking at the current situation we plan to hire lesser number of engineers in the coming year,” said MindTree President & Group CEO Product Engineering Services S Janakiraman.<br /><br />The company will also keep a control on lateral recruitment and done purely based on business needs. MindTree, which received a project from Chinese major, plans to open a subsidiary in China in the next 2-3 months. <br /><br />“The engineers to China centre will be outsourced from India as there is a language barrier for local hiring. The subsidiary will act as a bridge for bringing in business from Chinese customers and global gaints who have presence in China,” Janakiraman said. <br /><br />Asked to comment on TCS’ move to cut variable pay for trainees, he opined that this will bring a change in mindset of employees and variable pay should not be based only on company’s performance but also on productivity of the employee. “We have already done this in the R&D divison and this is a good model for the industry,” he said.</p>
