Tourist destinations to get hygienic services

In an attempt to provide the railway passengers better facilities in prominent tourist destinations across the country, the Railways has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Tourism which will make sure the target points get an uplift in the days to come.

The tasks which will include garbage clearance, providing drinking water facilities, maintenance of parking lots and toilets come under the banner of the ongoing “Clean India Campaigning” launched this year by the Ministry of Tourism.

Provisions are also made for the physically challenged persons so that they can avail the facilities with ease. The aim of the campaign is to provide the passengers with a hygienic and clean environment in and around historical monuments and other tourist destinations.

“The Tourism Ministry has prepared a road map for a hygienic tourism. According to this, the rail and road approaches along the surroundings of a tourist spot are to be provided with hygienic environment. Through, the MoU the railways will have the responsibility to give clean rail journey. We will not only give extra care to rail compartments, but also to the stations and surrounding areas,” said a senior official.

The official cited the plight of station areas near such monuments like the Lalquila and other historic monuments.
