A student from Poland drowned while swimming at Thottam, near Malpe, on the State’s coast, on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Miloez Lachowski, aged 21 years. He was pursuing an internship in Computer Science Department of the Manipal Institute of Technology.
The accident happened when four students were walking on the beach. Two decided to go for a swim. Both were swept away by a strong wave. They shouted for help, fishermen and were able to save only one student. Lachowski’s body yet to be traced.
