Bollywood’s first “He-man” Dara Singh, who turned to silver screen after conquering gritty wrestlers, is battling for life at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital since Saturday evening when he suffered a massive cardio-respiratory failure.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Kokilaben Ambani Hospital Executive Director Dr Ram Narain said: “He continues to be in a state which can be categorised as ‘extremely critical stage’…he is unstable and on ventilator in the intensive care unit.” The 83-year-old wrestler turned actor, known for his roles in mythological films as well as several box office hits, was rushed to hospital on late Saturday evening.

Dr Narain said that Singh was put immediately on ventilator and other life-supporting systems on admission as “…preliminary examinations revealed lack of pulse and respiration. Cranium scan has revealed a clot in the brai.”
