<p>Two persons, including a 50-year-old Haryana-based businessman, were stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in separate incidents in Delhi in the last 24 hours, police said on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>In the first incident, pepper merchant Rakshpal was killed at Azadpur in north-west Delhi on Monday morning.<br /><br />Rakshpal, who lives with his family in Sonipat, was at the market for business when he was stabbed by two men at 9 am. <br /><br />“He was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital in Malka Ganj, but succumbed to injuries before receiving treatment,” a police official said.<br /><br />Though police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack, they believe he was not killed for robbery as Rs 9,000 and his cellphone were found in his pocket. <br /><br />“We are investigating the matter from personal enmity and business rivalry angles. <br /><br />Nothing can be said unless we record statements of his family and friends,” the official added.<br /><br />Rakshpal’s son told police that his brother was attacked and robbed by their village rivals some months ago. <br /><br />He suspects the involvement of the same persons behind his father’s killing. A murder case has been filed with Mahendra Park police station.<br /><br />Metro worker stabbed<br /><br />The second incident was reported from central Delhi’s Daryaganj, where a 28-year-old Delhi Metro construction worker was stabbed and robbed by four miscreants on Sunday night.<br /><br />Ranjeet Shah, a native of Bihar’s Samastipur district, worked at a construction site of Delhi Metro Phase-3 project near ITO. <br /><br />He was returning to the site after recharging his cellphone at a kiosk in Daryaganj when the attack happened at 10 pm.<br /><br />“The assailants waylaid him and stabbed him when he resisted their robbery attempt,” a police official said.<br /><br />A passerby found Ranjeet lying in a pool of blood and made a call to the police control room. He was taken to Lok Nayak Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.<br /><br />A murder case has been filed with Daryaganj police station. Police have also detained a man for questioning over the attack.<br /></p>
