Stephen’s brace helped KGF Sports Academy register a 4-1 win over Students Union and catapulted them to the verge of clinching the Super Division title.
KGF with 19 points from eight matches can lift the crown with a victory against ASC in their last game on Saturday. HASC, who have completed their league matches, have 20 points. Stephen’s double came in the 51st and 59th minutes at the Bangalore Football stadium on Tuesday. Murugan (81st) and substitute Rooming (83rd) struck the other two goals for KGF Academy while Philip was the lone goalscorer for Students in the 87th minute. Stephen got KGF going in the 51st minute with a tap-in off Amoes’ pass.
Eight minutes later, the lanky forward was in action again when he headed in the second goal through a pass from Murugappan. Murugappan fired home the third goal in the 81st minut. KGF brought in Rooming for Madhu Karan in the 82nd minute and the midfielder struck the next minute with a header off a Stephen pass. Philip netted a consolation goal for Students in the 87th minute.
