Seat selection from July 12

If candidates have any doubts, contact helpline centre on 0824-2474123

Candidates who have apperaed for CET and are seeking admission in different colleges can start selecting their courses and colleges online from July 12 to 18.

Addressing a press meet, CET Nodal Officer Suresh Thunga said that the candidates have to find internet facilities themselves and avoid visiting NITK Surathkal to make entries as only 15 computers are available, which work very slow.

The documents verification process started on June 25 and around 4,500 students have verified their documents at Mangalore Helpline Centre established at NITK (Surathkal).

Most of the students hailed from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Madikeri and Chikmagalur.
However, 24 candidates were sent back as they had not presented original documents, he said.

Thunga reveled that a rank holder pursuing a dental course from a private college was sent back as she was not able to submit the no objection certificate.

In another case, a girl who pursued her education under Gurukul system was sent back as she did not have seven years of education in the State. A Scheduled Tribe candidate had to apply under the general category as she marked her caste wrong.

“The Karnataka Examination Authority has given each student a booklet on the procedure for applying for CET and also provided them with a CD. However, many students have not gone through the guidelines.

Many candidates have made major mistakes while filling the CET application form and therefore caused lot of inconvenience in the process of document verification,” he regretted.

Students were also given an opportunity to practice on applying CET online through a mock test. Some students who applied for mock test think that they have already applied for the course.

“Students should not have such misconceptions. The actual process starts on July 12 and students can opt for their courses using the keyword they have received in the helpline centre,” added Thunga and advised students to make their own choices and not be influenced by external forces.

The allotment of the seats will be announced on July 25. Candidates must carefully go through the process of payment of fees and receiving admission order at the helpline centre before joining the college.

Once the student joins the college, it is mandatory they inform the KEA as there are chances of illegal seat distribution. If the candidates have doubts, they can contact the helpline centre on 0824-2474123.
