Last Updated 10 July 2012, 19:15 IST

Seven officials of the Jammu and Kashmir health department face disciplinary action for allegedly making fraudulent appointments in Anantnag.

The state government has also ordered a probe to check similar irregularities in other districts.
“Acting tough on complaints about fake appointments made in the health department in Anantnag, the government has attached seven senior officers in the directorate of health services, Kashmir, with immediate effect,” said an official spokesman.

He said the attachment was ordered on Monday evening, following complaints over fake appointments made in the district over the years. The complaints were examined by a committee formed by the director of health services, the spokesman said.

“The committee, after verification of the complaints, submitted a preliminary fact-finding report that prima facie established large number of fake appointments made by certain officers,” he said.

The probe team is headed by special secretary to the government in the health and medical education department. “The committee found seven senior officers involved in making such fake appointments.”
“The names of other junior officials involved in the scam have been sent to the director of health services,” the spokesman said.
