Om Prakash ends sixth

India’s Om Prakash Singh ended sixth in shot put at the Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem meet in Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Om Prakash, who is preparing for the Olympic Games in Hungary, had a best of 19.27 metres. Georgiy Ivanov of Bulgaria won the gold with 20.09 metres.

Rahul eighth

Asian junior champion Rahul Kumar Pal finished a creditable eighth in the 10000M event at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Barcelona on Tuesday.

Rahul timed a career best 29:42.15 in the race won by Ethiopia’s Yigrem Demelash in 28:16.07. Phelemon Che­boi of Kenya (28:23.98) clai­med the silver while Geoffr­ey Kirui, also of Kenya, took the bronze in 28:30.47.
