Man robbed of car

A private firm employee, who was on his way home, was robbed of his car and other valuables in Pulikeshi Nagar on Wednesday night.

Karthik Selvaraja, 25, a resident of New Tippasandra, was stopped by two motorcycle-borne miscreants on Pottery Road near Richard Park.

They assaulted him before robbing him of two mobile phones and Rs 20,000 in cash. One of them drove away in Selvaraja’s car, while the other used the motorcycle to get away.

8 arrested for prostitution

Two teams of sleuths from the CCB Women & Narcotics Wing raided two houses — one in BTM Layout and another in Ejipura-- and arrested eight people for prostitution, on Wednesday evening.

At a 6th floor house in Ansal Apartments, BTM Layout, three people were taken into custody. One suspect has been identified as Varalakshmi alias Divya, 23, a resident of T Dasarahalli who ran the racket.

Her husband, Rajiv Manohar, who helped her run the racket managed to escape. Also arrested were Rina, a 19-year-old girl from West Bengal and Harish, 22, a customer. The police have also seized Rs 2,790 and four mobile phones from the arrested. A case has been registered at the Madiwala Police Station.

In another case, the police raided a house in Ejipura and arrested five people for prostitution. Umesh, 28, and Jagadish, 24, both pimps and Rajesh, 33, a customer are the arrested. Two girls taken into custody are Reshma, 24, and Surekha, 23.

Two other individuals, Raju and Rani, alleged to be the kingpins behind the racket, managed to escape. Officers seized Rs 2,500, a two-wheeler and five mobile phones from them. A case has been registered at Vivek Nagar Police Station.
