A 61-year-old man has been arrested at Dwarka in south-west Delhi for drug trafficking. Police have also recovered three kilograms of heroin worth Rs 3 crore from the possession of Narain Dass.
According to Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways), Narain, has a history of drug trafficking. He was earlier arrested twice and is presently facing a trial.
Third time
“He was held for the third time when he went to deliver a consignment of drugs to his contact near Dwarka Mor on Wednesday,” Jain added.
A kilogram of heroin was recovered from Narain at the spot and two more kilograms were later seized from his Kanjhawala home.
On interrogation, Narain told police that his elder brother, who was a drug peddler,died due to addiction.
“He stepped into his elder brother’s shoes after his death,” Jain said.

He also revealed that he had obtained drugs through his Uttar Pradesh-based contacts. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him.
Jain said police have recovered 110 kilograms of charas, 1,294 kilograms of ganja, 20 kilograms of heroin and 1.5 kilograms of cocaine till June 30 this year.
Coming down heavily on drug traffickers, police have arrested over 650 of them till June 30.
