It's more than skin deep

Men are not behind in anyway when it comes to using beauty products. They have not only become conscious about hair and skin care, but have also started using organic beauty products for better results.

Whether it is exfoliating skin creams or moisturisers, men don’t shy away from buying these.

“Why should we be shy about using beauty products? There is so much pollution and dust around that we have to use them. If we don’t take care of our skin and hair, who will? I cleanse, tone and moisturise my skin and use organic products as they are free of chemicals,” notes Chiranjiv, a professional.

There are many organic products made especially for men. “The demand has definitely risen. Earlier, we roughly had about fix to six customers, who bought these products, but now, there are many who shop for various kinds of products from us,” says Jayesh, an advisor at a cosmetic shop.

 While exfoliating creams and shower gels are very popular among men, the demand for sun-screen lotions as well as night creams are also going up. “Initially, I was opposed to the idea of using sun-screen lotions but after reading about it and seeing my friends using them, I have also started using them. I feel men should take care of their skin and one does not become less of a man if one uses beauty products,” adds Narayan, an architect.

Some men also note that it is important that one uses the right beauty product.
“There are many beauty products in the market for men now; however I feel that organic ones are better as they don’t cause any harm. There are beauty products that have chemicals and can cause pigmentation, rashes and other skin problems,” adds Narayan.
Many feel that there is a lack of awareness regarding skin care when it comes to men.

Pallav points out that much has been written about skin care for women, but there are hardly any for men. “More should be written about men’s skin care, there is an overdose of matter when it comes to women’s skin care. There are many men who want to know more about these products before experimenting these on their skin,” he sums up.
