Bus passenger held for eve-teasing

A bus passenger who was allegedly eve teasing girls including the lady conductor has been arrested by Kuvempunagar police on Wednesday.

Suresh, 45, son of Somasundar, resident of Vidyaranyapuram is the accused.

He had boarded route number- 135 to Kuvempunagar. In her complaint to the police, conductor Mangala Krishna Shetty has alleged that, Suresh had written derogatory comments on the back of the ticket issued to him. 

Besides, he was ogling at the girls inside the bus and also at the stops. He was bashed up by the fellow passengers before handing him over to the police. He has been booked under section 92 of IPC.

A case has been registered.

Acid attack convict held

Metagalli police have finally succeeded in arresting liquor merchant Chikkabasavaiah who had gone at large after allegedly carrying acid attack on Dr Mahalakshmi.

The high court had ruled in the favour of the victim and had ordered the police to arrest the accused. However, the accused had remained elusive forcing the police to intensify the search operation. He was finally arrested on Tuesday.

Following his arrest,  the police have also written to the excise authorities to cancel the licence of the bar owned by the accused at Visvesvaraya Industrial Suburb.

As is the rule, no party is liable to own a licence, if he or she is convicted in a case.
