The High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to Dasarahalli legislator S Muniraju, who has been chargesheeted by the Lokayukta police for fabrication of documents to secure land at Kereguddadahalli in Dasanapura.
Justice V Jagannathan granted bail till the final disposal of the case and directed the BJP MLA to furnish a personal bond for Rs one lakh along with two sureties.
Muniraju has been directed to not tamper with evidence or threaten the witnesses. The Lokayukta police have been given the liberty of approaching the court for cancellation of bail, if conditions warrant his arrest during the trial.
Earlier Muniraju had applied for anticipatory bail in the Lokayukta Court, but approached the High Court, before the matter was disposed in the lower court.
On Wednesday when the matter came up for hearing before the Lokayukta Court, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao posted the matter to Thursday for orders.
However, Muniraju obtained a one-day anticipatory bail from the High Court and approached the lower court Wednesday evening.
The Lokayukta Court was annoyed at not being informed that an application had been filed in the High Court and dismissed the anticipatory bail petition.
