Based on the complaint by pro-Hindu organisations, police seized cattle which were being transported from Jayapura to Haveri and booked cases against Ramesh, Rajesh, Basavaraj.
It was said that nine cattle were purchased as the owner had fallen sick.

However, the taluk does not have cattle pounds. The cattle pound at N R Pura is not being maintained. The owner has failed to come forward to take back the cattle from the police station.

Now the cattle are tied in police station garage. “Every day, we identify a donor and with the help of the donor, the food is being provided to these cattle, said station officer Suresh G Nayak.

Koosugolli Dinesh has come forward to take care of the cattle for 15 days. After taking permission from the court, the cattle will be handed over to him, he added.
