<p>A couple married a year ago allegedly committed suicide at their Talaghattapura residence off Kanakapura Road. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Vijayendra (28) and Jayarathna (22) were found hanging from the ceiling fan on Friday by a milkman who peeped through the window after the couple did not respond to his repeated knocks on the door, police said. <br /><br />He alerted the neighbours who informed the police. The bodies have been sent for autopsy, police said. <br /><br />The couple from Virupakshapura in Channapatna, Ramanagara district, migrated to Bangalore soon after their marriage. <br /><br />Vijayendra worked at an eatery in Talaghattapura. Jayarathna was three months’ pregnant. <br /><br />Police suspect that poverty could have driven the couple to suicide.<br /> <br />Girl killed in accident<br /><br />A speeding car killed a nine-year-old girl at Nerulur Railway Gate near Attibele Friday morning. <br /><br />Police said Navya, daughter of Muniramaiah and a class 4 student, was crossing the road when the car from Hosur knocked her down. <br /><br />Passersby intercepted the car, dragged the driver out and thrashed him before handing over him to the police. <br /><br />A case of negligent driving has been registered against the driver. <br /><br />PU student killed <br /><br />A BMTC bus mowed down a student on KG Road near Cauvery Bhavan on Thursday. <br /><br />B Ashwin (17) of Rajajinagar and student of Jain College on JC Road, was returning home on a two-wheeler when the bus rammed his two-wheeler. The student sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, police said.<br /><br />The bus driver absconded after the accident, the police added. <br /><br />Youth commits suicide<br /><br />A youth allegedly ended life by hanging himself from the ceiling at GKW Layout in Peenya Thursday night. <br /><br />Padmanabha (20) was the youngest of three children of Ramesh, an autorickshaw driver. His mother was a roadside vendor. He was depressed after a girl he was in love with spurned him, police said. <br /><br />Jail term awarded<br /><br />A chain-snatcher, who had seriously wounded a woman and fled with her gold chain last year in October was awarded two years’ imprisonment by a fast track court recently.<br /><br />Police said that on October 24 last year, Kumudini was on a morning walk when Ravi Kumar Nayak, 46, came in a two-wheeler, assaulted her and made away with her gold chain. <br /><br />Passenger robbed<br /><br />A woman passenger of an autorickshaw was waylaid and robbed by three men in the City on Friday . <br /><br />Sujatha (26) was on her way to Sultanpaplya from the City railway station with her in-laws, when the suspects waylaid the autorickshaw, snatched Sujatha’s hand bag that contained a gold locket, silver ornaments and a cellphone, police said.<br /><br />In another incident, Uma (35) of Kamakshipalya, was offering pooja to Ganesha idol in front of her house when two men came in a scooter and snatched away her gold necklace worth about Rs 1.5 lakh, she said in her complaint. <br /><br /></p>
