Steps to ensure safety at counting centres

Superintendents of Police have been empowered at districts to impose prohibitory orders depending upon the existing situation.

Supporters of the victorious candidates will have to take police permission before taking out victory processions.

The counting of votes begins at 8 am and is likely to be completed by around 12.30 pm. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in and around the counting centres, said the police.

About 68,000 police personnel have been deputed for security purposes.

As many as 136 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police, City Armed Reserve and 10,000 of civil police personnel have been pressed into service.

No one will be allowed inside the counting centres without prior permission and the police will check everyone entering the counting centres.

Media centre

The State Information Department has set up a media centre for journalists to cover the counting process at Vartha Soudha.

The media centre is equipped with computers with broadband internet connection and scanners. Arrangement have also been made for conducting discussions, interviews with elected representatives and leaders at the conference hall of the Vartha Soudha.
