Tibet to follow India path to freedom

Tibet prime minister Dr Lobsang Sangay said that Tibet was following the path of peace and non-violence followed by India to be freed from Britishers.  

Addressing a press meet here on Monday during his visit to Gurupura Tibetan settlement in Hunsur taluk, he opined that India and Tibet being live examples of freedom struggle, are following Gandhiji’s principles, ideologies in their fight for independence. 

He said, Tibetans religious leader Dalai Lama is fighting for Tibet’s independence at international level since 50 years. He regretted that, despite of support expressed all over the world for Tibet’s freedom struggle, China has been unwilling to let go Tibet. 

Tibetan community is fighting to preserve its unity and integrity, for which Tibetans residing in India  anchor, he added.

Recollecting his days in India, Sangay said, he was born and brought up here, and to encourage Tibetans here for the struggle, ‘flame of truth’ rally is conducted. 

Model

Expressing gratitude, he said, India has been a model for Tibet in every aspect and Tibet would also form constitution based on the Indian one. 

Replying to a query, the prime minister said, Tibet was always ready to go on a smooth discussions with China to solve the problem, without causing any harm to China’s integrity. 

He said that Tibet, confident about its struggle would get independence by following principles of peace and non-violence. 

Tibet Dharmasala Council’s Gurupura Settlement member Tering Yoden was present.
