After missing several deadlines, the Kadirenahalli underpass will finally be thrown open for traffic on Monday.
The construction of the Rs 28.72-crore underpass began in March 2008 was to be completed in ten months.
The work was stalled for nearly a year, as the Palike delayed land acquisition.
Presence of hard rock in the land further delayed excavation work. Damage to water supply lines during the work fuelled residents’ anger, further delaying the completion of the project.
The contractor was fined Rs 80 lakh for failing to plan and mobilise men and machinery to complete the work.
Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka and Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy will inaugurate the underpass.
