Three-day Rangotsava in Ch'nagar from Friday

Rangayana is preparing to showcase three plays from August 24 to 26 as part of ‘Zilla Rangotsava’ in Chamarajanagar.

Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, Rangayana director B V Rajaram said the institution had planned to expand its activities to districts of Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Ramanagar.

By organising free plays, Rangayan plans to attract more youth towards theatre.
 A theatre camp for children and training for college students is also being planned.
If principals, teachers and students come forward then a monthly training camp would be held once in a month in the district, said Rajaram.


Deenabandhu honorary secretary G S Jayadev is expected to inaugurate the Rangotsava at 6 pm on August 24 at J H Patel auditorium.


MLA C Puttarangashetty, deputy commissioner K R Sundar, zilla panchayat CEO M R Somashekarappa would participate.


Theatre artistes Alur Nagaraju and Prema would be felicitated.
Play written by K P Poornachandra Tejaswi’s ‘Krishnegowdana Aane’ would be showcased on August 24.


 A play based on Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekar Kambar’s ‘Gokarnada Gowdashani’ directed by Hulaguppa Kattimane would be enacted on August 25. Chandrakanth Kusanur’s ‘Dindi’ directed by Manjunath Belakere would be presented on stage on August 26.


Rangayana artistes will be participating in the plays.
Rangayana deputy director Nirmala Matapathi, Kannada and culture department assistant director S Manjappa, information department assistant director N S Mahesh were present at the media conference.
