A tailor, fearing that he may lose his house to road-widening, ended his life by hanging himself in Kottur on Tuesday.
Ramesh (45), a resident of the Renuka Talkies Road was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his house. It is said legislator Nemiraj Naika conducted a meeting of the residents of the road on Monday, informing them of a proposal to widen the road by 21.5 metres and that the width had been reduced by five metres.
A worried Ramesh had expressed before his wife that his house too would be demolished for road widening and he would be left with no option to eke out his livelihood. His wife, Sunita, had consoled him saying that she too would join him in tailoring to make a living.
A case has been registered at the Kottur police station.
