Legislators' foreign trip from today

Last Updated 29 August 2012, 18:42 IST

Unmindful of the advice given by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, a good number of legislators are leaving for foreign tour on Thursday. Each legislator is getting Rs 6.70 lakh from the government. Ninety per cent of the money has already been sanctioned.

Yeddyurappa had suggested the members of various committees of the legislature not to go ahead with their foreign jaunt as the State was facing drought. The legislators countered the suggestion saying it was too late to call off the trip as money had been paid for purchase of air tickets.

Members on the committee on public sector, who are leaving for Brazil and the US on Thursday, will be away for 15 days. The committee is headed by BJP MLA and former minister C C Patil, a close associate of Yeddyurappa. He would be leaving two days after other members leave for the tour. The other members who are going on the ‘study tour’, are Ramesh B Boosanur, Basavaraj Naik, Dr M C Sudhakar, B C Patil, H K Kumaraswamy, Venkatrao Nadagouda, K Prahlad Remani, Mohan Limbikai and Amarnath Patil.
