Delhi Police have arrested a youth near Rithala Metro station in north-west Delhi for his alleged link with Neeraj Bawana, an extortionist who was earlier nabbed for threatening businessmen and property dealers in national capital region.

Rahul alias Kala of Sultanpur Dabas in Bawana was held with a country-made pistol and four live cartridges on Thursday evening. “We had received a specific tip-off that he would come to meet his brother Bali at Rohini Court. A trap was laid at the court, but Rahul did not turn up. We were further informed that he had gone to meet someone at Auchandi village,” a police official said.

A team of Delhi Police’s special cell later laid a trap at Auchandi village, and around 6 pm on Thursday apprehended Rahul. “We also recovered a .32 caliber country-made pistol along with four live cartridges from his possession,” the official added. Neeraj Bawana, 21, was earlier arrested in Rohini hotel in June. He carries a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh.

Neeraj had confessed that his gang had threatened a businessman, Kala Sultanpuriya, demanding Rs 10 lakh in February. Rahul along with other members of the gang Rahul Dabbas, Manjit and Naveen were also involved.
