Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy charged Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar as having become a puppet of ex-CM B S Yeddyurappa and said that he is being used as a ‘rolling shutter’.

Addressing party workers in Kolar on Sunday, after Ramaraju resigned from BJP and joined the JD(S), Kumaraswamy lashed out at the BJP and alleged that the Government has failed to create a fear-free atmosphere in the State.

Speaking about the chief minister, he added that Shettar should not act as a rubber stamp. “Instead, he should use his ability and intellect to carry out proper administration. He should be Jagadish Shettar and not BSY Shettar,” Kumaraswamy said.

He criticised Yeddyurappa for advising ministers to take foreign trips and for offering them instructions on various matters, even though he had failed to act on his own good advice during his tenure as chief minister

“The State government has announced that farmers’ loan will be waived. But it is not clear how it is going to bear the burden of such a big amount.

It looks like they are fooling farmers by giving them alse promises. People will teach a lesson to the BJP in the next election,” he said and added that State president of BJP, K S Eshwarappa, should concentrate on strengthening his party intead of challenging others.

Welcoming Ramaraju back to the JD(S), HDK said that the party has been strengthened aftr he rejoined the party.

Taluk unit president of JD(S), E Gopalappa, former minister K Srinivasgowda and legislator G K Venkatashivareddy, former minister Jyothireddy were present on the occasion.

In Bangarpet

Kumaraswamy, speaking at a JD(S) party workers meet in Bangarpet said that providing permanent irrigation system to Kolar will be the first preference of the party — if it is voted into power.

He claimed that when the JD(S) and BJP coalition government was in power, Rs 150 crore was reserved for the construction of Yeragol reservoir. “But even after four years of tenure, the BJP government is not willing to take the work forward. If JD (S) is voted back to power, the district will have permanent irrigation system, and within three years,” he said.

The party will work for the welfare of farmers and will provide good rate for silk, he added.

“The pension amount for widows and aged people will be increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,500,” he said and also promised to waive farmers’ loans. He announced that the former Zilla Panchayat member Ramachandrappa, who has rejoined the party will be fielded for the poll from Bangarpet Legislative Assembly Constituency.
