While remodeling homes, home owners would want their walls also to match up to the theme of the home along with flooring and furniture. Wall cladding is the most practical and attractive wall finish that provides protection as well as insulation inside the home.

Depending on the interior design themes that you choose, wall cladding options are available in metal, stone, timber, PVC or even vinyl. A lot of people opt for wooden cladding because it lends a natural feel to  your home, apart from versatility and warmth.

Wooden cladding can be used either horizontally or vertically. You can use it on just part of the wall depending on the look that you are trying to create. Made of coconut shell chips, wooden cladding is light-weight, durable and beautifully decorative. The cladding is easy to maintain as well.

Gaurav Saraf, Joint Managing Director Square Foot explains, “A wooden wall is a great way to create acoustical wall panels. Whether you are building or remodeling a full-scale recording environment or just want to improve the sound of your home theatre system, natural wood works great with sound waves.”

Wood is a natural insulator and wooden wall cladding offers good thermal and acoustic insulation. Wooden cladding combined with upholstery can make for a soft and warm ambience that can conceal flaws and unsightly features like cables and exposed wiring. This is not possible in surface paints or wallpapering. Wood wall cladding provides a smooth clean surface.

Wooden wall cladding is also a great option for India where wall dampness causes wall papers to fail as they peel and look very tacky. The panel can be replaced without much disturbance to the remaining wall. The cladding is resistant to moisture, termites and fire, is low on maintenance cost and highly durable.

And the advantages are:
* Dry installation means external envelope is quicker to install
* Wide choice of softwoods, hardwoods and modified woods to suite all budgets.
* Outstanding thermal and sound insulation properties
* Ease of repair
* It is attractive in grain and colour
* Low carbon footprint - requires less energy to produce than any other construction material
* Recyclable
* Can be installed in a day on existing damp free and level walls
