Although Ranbir Kapoor plays a deaf and mute person in his upcoming film Barfi!, he has lent his voice for a promotional song in the film.

The actor has sung a song for the film’s promotions, called Phataphati (the Bengali word for awesome).

The first few lines of the song are in Bengali, while the rest is in Hindi. Anurag Basu and music composer Pritam have contributed to the track’s vocals.

It was a surprising moment for everybody, when they witnessed Ranbir Kapoor behind the microphone in the studio.

Anurag says, “We have recorded a song called ‘Phataphati’. Ranbir has lent his voice for the track and it turned out very well. However, as we had already recorded the song and shot the video, we decided to release at a later stage. It will be available on the internet and it will be aired on television. It will not be in the film. It’s a fun song that we wanted the people to see and enjoy.”

A promotional video of the song have also been shot. But the song will not be featured in the movie.
