Having sailed through the qualifying singles rounds, Bopanna defeated Jose Acasuso in the first round of the main draw 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday. Bopanna faces fourth-seeded Chilean, Fernando Gonzalez on Thursday. Bopanna is also scheduled to play his second-round doubles tie.
