“I am just planning about each game, not worried about trying to help India,” said the Pakistan skipper on Tuesday. “I wish India plays in the final against us, but we will not worry about that in our game tomorrow. In my mind there is nothing like if I lose, India will be out. What I am thinking about is what I can do for my country.”

On Indian fans rooting for a Pakistani win, he remarked, “Everyone knows there are so many followers of the Indian team in Pakistan and vice versa, then what is the problem?
When we played India the other day, who was the biggest winner? It was cricket. India and Pakistan should play often. If we do not play, cricket will not benefit. The biggest sell-out crowd in this tournament was for our game.”  Younis said despite having secured qualification, Pakistan wouldn’t relax, though he didn’t rule out some changes to the playing eleven. “To me, there is nothing like playing a relaxed game. You are in good form, continue that. My simple message to my team is play to your potential and merit. Imran Nazir had stitches in his right hand after being injured while fielding, I am carrying an injury too, so you can expect one or two changes,” added Younis.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni had said earlier in the day that he didn’t believe Pakistan would worry about pulling India through to the semis, an opinion subsequently echoed by Younis. “Pakistan will not play their eleven thinking if they win, India will qualify,” the Indian skipper observed. “They will experiment with their line-up with an eye on the rest of the matches, they might try out their reserves. It depends on what they want to get out of the game. Dhoni too was asked about what he expected from India’s millions of fans when Pakistan take on Australia. “The Indian fans want us to qualify, so I am sure they will support the Pakistan team,” he replied. “You can expect them to cheer Pakistan tomorrow, but it is entirely up to them.”
