Man gets death for killing kids

A  Punjab Sessions court on Tuesday awarded death penality to a man, who on January this year, burnt his children to death, besides hurting his wife seriously.

Terming  a rarest of rare case, the court awarded death to 37-year-old Jasvir Singh, a resident of Kallowal village in Chandigarh district. The first hearing in the case was held on August 27 and the judgment was pronounced in a record five hearings, spanning just 23 days. 

The additional sessions Judge J S Bhinder sentenced the convict death under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and ordered to hang him till death. According to Jasvir’s wife Narinder Kaur, on the ill-fated day, power authorities disconnected their power supply because of non payment of dues.

When Jasvir reached home in a drunken state, he got irked. Jasvir asked his wife to bring money from her maternal house, otherwise, he warned, he would set all of them on fire. Kaur along with her two sons Lovepreet Singh (5) and Lakhwinder Singh (4) went to sleep around 7pm that day. In cold blood, Jasvir set the quilt on fire and shut the door.
