'Simplify trade licence procedure'

Last Updated 21 September 2012, 20:16 IST

State BJP president Vijender Gupta has asked the chairpersons of standing committees of the three MCDs to simplify the process of issuing trade licences to traders.

In a letter to the chairpersons, Gupta said the simplified process will not only save traders from corrupt officials, but also bring revenue to the municipalities. Gupta told reporters that the current process of licensing was so complicated that it takes years for traders to get a licence.

“So many traders become victim of corruption, and the corporation loses revenue too. Revenue that should have been deposited in MCD accounts is consumed by corruption, while the sword of challan keeps hanging on traders. We need to sort out this mess,” said Gupta.

He said the process should be made simple and accountable to help traders do business freely and peacefully.
