Two persons were arrested in Gurgaon for kidnapping and killing a taxi driver, police said on Monday. Rajesh Kumar Das, 25, and Anil Kumar Sah, 35, both from Bihar, were arrested last week.

Police said Satpal Yadav, owner of Yadav Taxi Service at Vasant Kunj, approached police on September 13 and informed them that a man named Sunil, who claimed to be an accountant in Vasant Valley School in Gurgaon, called him on September 3.

Sunil reportedly told Yadav that a school project was going on in Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, and he needed to hire a vehicle to go there along with other persons from September 4 to September 9.

Yadav sent a Tata Indigo car driven by Suresh to pick up the passengers from Sohna Road in Gurgaon, after which they left for Bilaspur. When they crossed Agra, the vehicle broke down.

Yadav said he sent a Toyota Innova car driven by Shamsher to pick up the passengers from Agra and head towards Bilaspur, which they did.

Yadav said he was in touch with Shamsher, but when the driver did not return on September 9, he contacted Vasant Valley School and found out there was no one named Sunil working there. Yadav then called Shamsher and advised him to be cautious.

On September 11, Shamsher went missing and his phone was   switched off.

Police later found out that Sunil’s real name is Chandan and he is a resident of Jharkhand. The three persons travelling with him were Saroj, Rajesh Kumar Das and Anil Kumar Sah. Rajesh and Anil were arrested in Gurgaon, while the other two are absconding.

They told police that Shamsher had informed local police in Chhattisgarh that they had hired the vehicle using fake identity papers. The occupants then conspired to kill the driver.

En route to Raipur from Bilaspur, they strangled Shamsher, then dumped his body at an isolated place, and fled in the car. Shamsher’s body was found on September 12 by some villagers who informed police at Korba in Chhattisgarh.
