Cartoonist Satish Sringeri, (in pic) who had carved a niche for himself in political caricatures, passed away here on Thursday morning, after a brief illness.

He was 45 .An Ayurvedic physician by profession, Satish had a very visual sense of humour that he translated into a range of telling caricatures. Cartooning and caricatures were a passion that Satish had cultivated right from his school days.

His first brush with lines of art and humour was at the Abhinava Ramananda High School, Kigga, a village near Sringeri.

His works matured both in content and execution as he continued drawing through his academic life. As a student of Sri Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharathi Memorial College, Sringeri, and ALN Rao Memorial Ayurveda College, Gadag, Satish proved his mettle.

This creative streak did not recede even after he completed his postgraduation in Ayurveda, took up teaching and worked as a scientist with a pharmaceutical company.
Satish’s cartoons appeared regularly in the Kannada daily.
