It was a real test of passion for fashion on Sunday night. Initially, many wondered whether day two of the ‘Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2012’ would have a good turnout as India and Pakistani cricket teams were battling it out on the same night.

However, after a long wait, people started trickling in and before one knew it, the venue was packed and fashionistas were eagerly waiting to see what the designers had to offer.

The final day boasted of designers like Pankaj and Nidhi, Asmita Marwa, Gaviin Miguel and Vikram Phadnis.

While some of the designers stayed true to their signature style, there were some, who experimented and brought something different on the ramp.

Pankaj and Nidhi kickstarted the event with their latest collection ‘The Liquid Gold Tree’. The entire collection was inspired by ancient cultures which were intertwined with modern craftsmanship.

The ramp was drenched in colours of black, gold, fuchsia and blue and people were fascinated by the attention given to detailing and the play of textures. Model-turned-actress Angela Jonnson was the showstopper for the duo.

Angela, who was dressed in a short black dress and a fuchsia-coloured overcoat, says that it was love at first sight for her when she saw the outfit.

“I have seen the duo’s work in magazines and heard of them before but this was the first time I have ever met them and seen their designs so closely. When they showed me the dress, I fell in love with the craftsmanship of the coat,” she adds.

Next up was Gaviin Miguel. Known for his flowing gowns and dresses, the designer sure didn’t disappoint this time as well. For the tour, he created a special line called ‘Stairway to Heaven (Heavenly Abode)’. “I want every woman to feel like heaven on earth when they wear my collection,” he says. Though he has showcased his designs in the City before, this time Gaviin played with a palette of light airy colours mixed with a strong dash of neon.

“I really loved the fluidity that he has brought into all his garments,” says actress Dipannita Sharma, the showstopper for the designer.

Asmita Marwa’s ‘The Era of Woodstock’ collection stood out even without a celebrity showstopper. Her designs took one back to the late 60s’ and early 70s’ where peace, freedom of expression and music defined people. “With all that is happening in the world right now, I want my clothes to bring out happiness and hope,” she adds.

The grand finale, which showcased Vikram Phadnis’ collection, was eagerly awaited.

True to his nature, the designer’s collection oozed out luxury and creativity. A good blend of Indian and Western influences, the collection varied from skirts, kalidaars teamed with bundis to structured jackets and gold-coloured Nehru caps. Actress Soha Ali Khan, the showstopper for the designer, says, “I have always been a big fan of Vikram’s designs. I am sure anyone who wears his clothes would feel instantly beautiful.”
