BBMP draft voters' list out

Final list to be announced on Oct 15; file objections before Oct 6

A total of 5197 polling booths including 478 additional booths have also been established across the City as part of the elections.

The list includes a total of 51.80 lakh voters and any objections and complaints must be lodged before October 6. Details of the voter list have been notified at the wards and on the website   - www. bbmpelections. info.

The final voters’ list will be announced on October 15 in all the wards and the supplementary list will be announced 10 days before the candidates file their nominations.

The number of wards in Bangalore Central, North and South divisions are 51, 53 and 54.

The election officer for Bangalore Central, A M Kunjappa told the media that Assistant returning officers have been appointed for each ward along with returning officers for every four or five wards.

Meanwhile, the BBMP will also have an absentee voter list at all wards.
Officials revealed that in the event of the absentee voter showing up, the election duty official would examine the credentials on the spot and facilitate or reject participation. They also revealed that EPIC cards will be issued till October 10 in the respective wards.

Survey
As part of preparing the voters list and deciding on the number of polling booths, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore conducted a door-to-door survey of certain localities of the City.

“We conducted the survey and took into consideration the census of 2001 for preparing the voters list in 40 wards that fall under the jurisdiction of our office,” said the Deputy Commissioner, G N Naik.

Discrepancies
Meanwhile, voters whose names have not been incorporated in the list or incorporated wrongly have been given time till October 6 to file their objections.
Currently, the Deput Commissioner’s office has received nearly 81,368 objections for discrepancies in both voters’ list and the list of polling booths.
Of these 64,401 have been cleared and the rest 43,775 are still under consideration. The final list of the voters and the polling station will be prepared by October 15.
