DC's online chat gets good response

Last Updated 07 October 2012, 18:23 IST

Deputy commissioner P S Vastrad interacted online with the public about the Dasara programmes in the city on Sunday.

People were enthusiastically enquiring about the Dasara festival arrangements. The DC also sought suggestions from the people to make Dasara a grand success.

Monica, who chatted with the DC, appreciated him for working even on Sundays. She asked: “Do you think you can make Dasara a success with your subordinates?” The DC replied: “I am confident about my team, which is working well for Dasara programmes. Even the public should join hands to make it a grand success.”

She said financially sound people will be in the front rows during Dasara and people who can’t afford will be behind. She urged the DC to make sure that everyone enjoys Dasara.
The DC was asked if there would be a vintage cars show. He said Veerendra Heggade of Dharmastala had been approached on this issue.

But, due to transportation problems, the show did not materialise. A person asked why is that the howdah elephant will be at the end of the procession. He replied: “I will speak to the people concerned about this and take a decision.”

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the DC said: “I agree that the number of tourists visiting the city has come down due to the ongoing Cauvery agitation. I hope it ends well before the commencement of the Dasara festival.”

The DC will be available online for chat on the Palace website from 5.30 to 6 pm on October 9, 11 and 13 also. His mail ID is dasara@mysorepalace.gov.in.
