The Codava National Council (CNC) has demanded that Kodavas should be permitted to have a gun without any licence.
The CNC has already taken steps to approach the government to seek an exemption under Sections 3 and 4 of the Indian Arms Act, regarding owning a gun.
In a letter to the Kodagu deputy commissioner, the community has urged the government to provide exemption certificates under the said Act to all Kodavas without ‘any delay or objection’.
The CNC will also organise human chains across Kodagu from October 8 till November 6 on scheduled days.
