Fish merchant robbed

A fish merchant from Tamil Nadu was assaulted and robbed of Rs seven lakh by a gang of four men near Russell Market Sunday night.

Saravana, 27, a resident of Chennai, supplies fish to vendors in Bangalore.  He had come to the City Sunday morning to collect the payment from the vendors.

When Saravana was returning after collecting the money in the evening, four unidentified men surrounded him, sprayed chilli powder into his eyes, snatched the bag containing the money and fled.

Newborn found dead

The body of a newborn was found in a garbage heap next to SLV apartments at Seetapathi Agrahara Monday morning.

Residents found the body wrapped in a towel.  They alerted the Central police, who rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.
