Rs 1.2 crore Hawala money seized

Subhash Agrawal, Deputy Director, in a press note said that investigation revealed that the dealings of the accused in Bangalore ran into several crores of rupees and persons from various business enterprises were involved in it. Further, documents relating to illegal transfer of funds outside India were also unearthed, he added.

Three held for vehicle lifting
Indiranagar police have arrested three persons alleged to be involved in seven cases of vehicle theft, and recovered seven two-wheelers worth Rs 2 lakh from their possession. The accused Masood Sharief (18), Syed Sharief (18), and Mohammad Muneer (23), all residents of Whitefield are said to be school dropouts.

5 held for burglary
Police on Thursday arrested five persons in connection with a theft in the house of Shivalingappa located near Srirampura Bandireddy Circle. Jewellery and a cellphone worth Rs 2.5 lakh have been recovered from their possession. Harish (24), Ramesh (24), Manjunath (22), Satish (27), all residents of Kunigal taluk in Tumkur district, and Narasimhamurthy (22), a resident of Maruthinagar, have been arrested.

Four held for imitating snuff brand
City Crime Branch Police have arrested four persons for manufacturing and selling imitations of a popular snuff manufacturer (Perumal) and recovered snuff products worth Rs 25,000 from their possession in the City Market Police Station limits on Thursday. The accuses are Gulab Singh (20), Prakash Ram (37), Mahendra Singh (25) and Mangal (19).

Two held for chain snatching
Malleshwaram police have arrested two persons involved in several cases of chain snatching, and recovered four gold chains and an autorickshaw worth Rs 2.5 lakh acting on the information provided by them last Tuesday. Police said the accused were auto drivers and took to chain snatching to live a luxurious life. With this arrest, four cases of chain snatching have been solved.

Ivory seized
Police have recovered 12 kg of ivory worth Rs 36 lakh and arrested a person near Horamavu Road in the City on Friday. The accused Govindraj (31), is a native of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu.
