Teenager killed over love affair; man loses life over parking

Two murders in the last two days have left residents in a state of shock and fear.

In the first incident, a 18-year-old boy stabbed his younger sister to death, disapproving her affair with a boy in the neighbourhood on Monday night, police said. Laxmi Sharma,17, a resident of Mandawali in east Delhi was stabbed by her brother Sujit Sharma around Monday midnight at their residence in front of family members. The elder brother was against her relationship with Ankit Gupta, 22.

Laxmi, a student of class 11 at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya for the past four months was in love with Ankit, a supervisor with a milk supply contractor. They would frequently meet in parks and other areas.

Police said on Monday around 9:45 pm, Laxmi went to Ankit’s house. Around 11:30 pm, Dilip Gupta, Ankit’s brother-in-law, returned home from his tuition centre and objected to Laxmi’s presence. Once at home, her two brothers, Sujit and Sanjeev, her aunt Santi Devi and parents tried to convince Laxmi to end the relationship with Ankit.

While the conversation was on, Sujit took a kitchen knife, stabbed Laxmi in the stomach and fled. Laxmi was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where she succumbed to her injury. During initial probe, police found that the family, particularly Sujit, who is also a class 11 student, was against his sister affair.
Sujit is absconding and police are trying to trace him.

Parking dispute

In another incident, around half a dozen people stabbed two cousins over a parking dispute, following which one died and the other sustained injury at north-east Delhi’s Jafrabad, police said.

Vineet, 32, succumbed to stab injuries on Monday morning and his cousin Meetu Kumar is still recuperating. Vineet stayed with his parents, wife Seetal and Yuvraj, his four-year-old son, along with his uncle’s family at Godha village in Jafrabad. On Sunday night, Vineet’s neighbour Aakash tried to park his car in front of the former’s house. Vineet requested Aakash to park somewhere else to which Aakash refused.

He then called up half a dozen of his friends and entered into a heated argument with Vineet. Seeing the commotion outside the house Vineet’s cousin Meetu Kumar came out and tried to settle the matter.

But Aakash and his friends stabbed both Vineet and his cousin and fled from the spot. Police have registered a case of murder against Aakash and his friends.
