Last Updated 10 October 2012, 20:23 IST

Kerala Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has said Information Commissioner K Natarajan, who had allegedly intervened in a vigilance probe into a land scam on the pretext of shielding the former chief minister, should be punished if found guilty.

The veteran CPM leader, also former chief minister of Kerala, is one of the eight accused in the case which is now pending before a Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Court in Thrissur.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Achuthanandan alleged that Natarajan’s intervention was part of a conspiracy to turn the case against him.  The court will consider the case on October 16.  “The conspiracy was hatched by a group of people who were scathed by my relentless fight against corruption,” Achuthanandan alleged. “I have not entrusted anybody to intervene in the probe for dropping my name from the case.”
