It seems film city in Mysore is just a take away, with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar promising to accord his nod for the long pending demand.

Speaking after inaugurating Dasara film festival at Kalamandira in the city, the chief minister assured to give his approval, if the proposal came before the finance department, to the applause of the gathering.

Quoting his cabinet colleague and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas the chief minister said 400 acres of land is earmarked for the film city in the revised draft master plan of Mysore- Nanjangud area- 2031.

Listing out the developmental works pertaining to filmdom, the chief minister said Dr Rajkumar Memorial on the premises of Kanteerava Studio in Bangalore will be dedicated soon as the works are nearing end.

Of the total Rs 10 crore allocated for the plan, Rs 7.5 crore has been sanctioned. Similarly, Rs five crore has been earmarked for the memorial of another great actor Vishnuvardhan on the premises of Abhiman Studio.

Legal hassle related to the site has delayed the project and hurdles will be cleared soon to take up the works, the chief minister assured to the applause of the large number of fans of the actor.

Subsidy

On children’s films, the chief minister said that the subsidy has been increased from two films to four. Reacting to the demand of the chairman of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) B N Vijaykumar to increase  the number of films from 75 to 100 for subsidy, the chief minister replied on a positive note.

Appeal

The chief minister appealed to the film industry to ponder on the movies of the current genre sans quality, without churning out family entertainers. He described 70’s as golden era of Kannada cinema.

Earlier minister S A Ramdas appealed to the chief minister to take a decision on film city before the end of the month, as a gift to Kannadigas on November 1, Kannada Rajyotsava day.

Shivanna steals the show

Film stars have remained an integral part of Dasara film fest, and for fans it’s time to get a real glimpse of their reel heroes. Imagine what would happen when the star appears in front of you?

Deafening applause, whistles and crazy noises only to draw the attention of their favourite stars.

That’s exactly what happened when star after star walked into the venue suffice to visual treat.

The already excited young denizens who formed the chunk of the gathering went gaga when actor Shivarajkumar rendered a medley of songs, but only two. No sooner there was a demand from the fans, the actor slipped into the shoes of a singer.

Nagendra of Rajan Nagendra music directors duo, actors Doddanna, Dingri Nagaraj, Sunderraj, Shivarajkumar, Sudharani, director Girish Kasaravalli and Ramya were felicitated.

A dance drama on ‘Mahishasura mardini’ was also staged.

Tara Anooradha, actor, MLC and also the chairperson of Dasara Film Festival, working president and deputy director of Information and Publicity A R Prakash and others were present.
