Job-seeking girl raped in west Delhi

A 16-year-old girl has told police that she was raped by a transport company owner when she went for a job interview in Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi. The girl, who studied till class 8 and dropped out, lives with her family in Khyala.

In her statement to police, she said the incident happened on Sunday when she went for a job interview at a transport company.

“The company owner, C M Kashyap, took her to his cabin and sexually assaulted her,” a police official said. Kashyap also threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident.

She kept quiet

After returning home, she could not muster courage to report the matter to her parents.

The incident came to light when her parents found her a bit nervous, and asked her for an explanation.

Her parents then reported the matter to police on Monday. A case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code was filed against the accused after she underwent a medical examination at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

“We have started an investigation on the basis of her statement and after the medical examination confirmed rape,” the official added.

The accused is absconding and police are raiding his possible hideouts.
