'Datta peeta belongs to Hindus'

“After holding talks with seers and maulvis, government must come to a decision on Bababudangiri Inam Dattatreya Peeta,” said Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik.

Addressing Sri Ram Sene activists after offering pooja to Dattrateya photo near Datta peeta on Sunday, he said “Datta peeta belongs to Hindus. The tombs inside the cave must be shifted to Nagenahalli Darga.”

Coming down heavily on the State government, he said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had promised to wear ‘Datta male’ when was in opposition. After coming to power, he has forgotten everything, he added.

He welcomed the government’s decision to repair the Datta peeta cave.  
Bababudangiri was filled with mist.  Even at 1 pm, there was no sign of sun God. Moreover, it was raining. After taking bath in Honnamma halla near Athigundi, more than 5,000 Sri Ram Sene activists proceeded to Peeta inspite of rain.  In a temporary shed constructed by the district administration outside the controversial site at the peeta, Pramod Muthalik offered arathi to the photo of Dattatreya. ‘Prasadam’ was distributed to the devotees.

Sri Ram Sene leaders Arun Puthila, Prasad Attavar, Huyigere Prasad, Annappa and Umeshchandra and Pramod Muthalik led the members to Datta peeta. Activists from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Bijapura districts took part in Datta Mala Abhiyana large number. DC R Narayana Swamy, Superintendent of Police M N Nagaraj, Additional SP Muthuraya, AC Dayanand, Tahsildar Veena and others were present. As many as 1,500 police personnel were deployed for security purpose.
