Parveen Banu, 35, wife of renowned sitarist Fayaz Khan, died in a road accident near Kumarapatnam of Haveri district on Thursday.
Khan and four other travellers were seriously injured.Khan’s family was travelling in a car on National Highway 4 between Pune and Bangalore, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which tumbled off road near Kumarapatnam.
Parveen Banu, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the Davanagere hospital, but died on the way. Khan’s leg was fractured.
Children injured
Sharmeena Banu, a relative, was injured in the neck. Khan’s children Feroze Khan and Shainbar were also injured and are being treated in the intensive care unit at the SS Hi-tech Hospital in the City.A case has been filed at the Kumarapatnam police station.
