In a freak incident, a Delhi University student travelling on a motorcycle was beaten up by a car driver and his two friends and also bitten by a pet dog in a road rage case at east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri.

Khichripur village resident Amit Chaudhary, 19, a BA second year student at PGDAV College, was returning home from east Vinod Nagar when the incident took place around 10.20 pm on Sunday.

“There was heavy traffic when Amit reached near Khichripur. Suddenly, Amit’s foot accidentally came under the wheel of a Maruti Wagon R car due to which he told the driver to be careful,” a police official said.

Amit then drove off, but was again stuck in traffic. Enraged over the comment made by Amit, the car driver stopped in front of Amit’s motorcycle and started abusing him.

The driver then along with his friend came out of the car and started beating Amit. “It is alleged that they hit Amit with a heavy object due to which he suffered head injuries. Later, another friend of the accused brought a dog to the spot. The dog bit Amit on his leg and thigh due to which he began to bleed profusely,” the official added.

In the melee, Amit also lost a gold chain. The accused fled when locals began to gather. Amit later made a call at the police control room after which he was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

A case has been lodged over Amit’s statement under the charges of negligent conduct with respect to animal, wrongful restrain and attempt to commit culpable homicide with Kalyanpuri police station.

No arrests have been made, as the accused are yet to be identified.
